13.2 Target Selection and Suitability

As with all other observations, we need to first check the ROC using Leopard. By looking here, we find that, of course, TrES-1 has already been observed. Had this been a real proposal, we could then check the Duplicate Observations Rule to see if the specific proposal idea we have in mind qualifies as a new observation - perhaps we feel we could make a good scientific case for why it would need to be observed more than it already has during the Spitzer mission. Or, we note that the existing observations are at 4.5 and 8.0 $ \mu {\rm m}$ and we would like to observe it instead at 4.6 and 5.8 $ \mu {\rm m}$ - this would not be a duplication. However, for purposes of this example only, we will ignore the potential duplication, and continue planning these time series observations of TrES-1.
