6.9 Filling Out the IRS Staring Mode AOT

We now fill out the IRS Staring Mode Astronomical Observation Template (AOT) in Spot, starting with selection of the AOT type. This is accomplished either by selecting ``IRS Staring'' from the ``Observation'' pull-down menu in Spot, or by clicking on the single-spectrum icon (the wiggly blue line), ninth from the right on the taskbar. The IRS Staring Mode AOT entry window appears as shown in Figure 6.3. It includes a choice of peak-up (target acquisition) options, slit configurations, exposure times, and repeats (cycles). In this section, we discuss each of the AOT entry options, and the activities that the spacecraft and telescope will perform when the specified AOR is executed. Let us consider these in turn.
