We have already determined that the sample for which Spitzer data are available is representative of the entire GALEX Atlas of Nearby Galaxies, which covers the range of the observed properties of the field galaxy population as judged by optical and FIR luminosities and colors. The combined sample is already a factor of 4 larger that the number of objects of SINGS. This is now enough to allow statistical studies on sub-sets even when down-selecting to a specific group of galaxies (e.g., chosen according to sub-type, colors, luminosities, environment, etc.). A wide range of scientific issues can be addressed with the UV+far-infrared spatially resolved data. Our prime scientific objective will be the study of the properties of dust attenuation in all star formation regimes (from normal to starburst galaxies), on a local basis (in individual regions, and along profiles). The obtained products will be made available to the community, as is already the GALEX Atlas of nearby galaxies.
