Nominal start/end dates of Proposal Cycles
- Cycle-1 : July 1, 2004 - May 31, 2005.
- Cycle-2 : June 1, 2005 - May 31, 2006.
- Cycle-3 : June 1, 2006 - June 30, 2007
- Cycle-4 : July 1, 2007 - June 30, 2008
- Cycle-5 : July 1, 2008 - end of cryo mission (Spring 2009)
Cycle-5 is Spitzer's final cryogenic observing cycle and the duration
is uncertain. The best estimate for the cryogen depletion date is
the end of March 2009, plus or minus one month.
The Spitzer project has proposed a "warm" mission (IRAC 3.6 and 4.5
micron channels only) that will last up to 5 years from the end of
cryogenic operations. We expect to present specific plans to a NASA
Senior Review in spring 2008. Phasing of Warm Mission Calls for
Proposals will likely be finalized after this review. This schedule
will be updated as new information becomes available.
