The SSC will provide financial support for Investigators selected
to conduct Theoretical (TR) Research programs,
subject to the availability of NASA funds. A Theoretical Research proposal should address a topic that is of direct relevance to Spitzer observational programs, and this relevance should be explained in the proposal. The results of the theoretical investigation should be made available to the community in a timely fashion. For example, models or algorithms produced should be made available to the community in addition to publishing the scientific results obtained from the models. GO or AR proposals which include a minor component of theoretical research will be funded under the appropriate GO or AR Program. Theoretical research should be the primary or sole emphasis of a Theory Proposal. Analysis of archival data may be included, but should not be the main aim of the project. A TR proposal is submitted only if investigators are seeking funding support.
