What is available?

SWIRE delivers images and source lists, for Spitzer+optical data.

Please note that when a Legacy team delivers enhanced data products to IRSA, the data must go through a quality assurance (QA) and ingestion process before being available through IRSA search engines, and this process does not happen instantaneously. Direct data access to a more recent delivery may contain errors that will be caught by the QA process; an IRSA search of an older delivery permits access to data that have passed the QA process. (More information about IRSA services, the QA process, etc.)

For the data that have passed the QA process, IRSA offers a number of services connected to the SWIRE data, specifically:

The SWIRE team recommends that new users start with this summary web document, which contains considerable links to additional information.

Spring 2008 anticipated; a.k.a. DR 5 Delivery planned to include:
  1. New versions of all catalogs. The catalogs will consist of
    1. A "reliable" and a separate "complete" catalog. The latter is new.
    2. The catalogs will have all optical, IRAC and MIPS bands merged together. In the past we did not include MIPS-70 or MIPS-160.
    3. Separate source lists for each MIPS band.
  2. An asteroid catalog for XMM. This is also new.
  3. A new delivery document/paper.
S13N/A
2006-12-23 a.k.a. DR 5 New and final versions of IRAC and MIPS images, with improved processing. more information about this delivery; summary web document. A longer document will accompany the next release.

*** UPDATE Jan 3, 2007: Three XMM MIPS files have been replaced with improved versions, including full FITS headers and masking of identified asteroids. The files that have been removed are:

  • swire_XMM_M1_v4_mosaic_total.fits
  • swire_XMM_M1_v4_mosaic_total_cov.fits
  • swire_XMM_M1_v4_mosaic_total_unc.fits
replaced by the following files:
  • swire_XMM_M1_v4_mosaic.fits
  • swire_XMM_M1_v4_mosaic_cov.fits
  • swire_XMM_M1_v4_mosaic_unc.fits

Getting the original Spitzer data

All of the original Spitzer data for Legacy programs are released to the community as soon as they complete end-of-campaign reprocessing (there is no proprietary period). For general information about how to access our archive (and what to do with the data when you get in), please see our archives and analysis page.

To access data specifically from SWIRE, you can search by these program ids (pids):

  • pid 142 - swires_lockman
  • pid 181 - swires_xmm_lss
  • pid 182 - swires_elais_s1
  • pid 183 - swires_elais_n2
  • pid 184 - swires_chandra_s
  • pid 185 - swires_elais_n1
