IRAC Dither Patterns
Dithering is used to mitigate pixel-to-pixel gain differences, which are ɘ.5%
Two types of dither patterns:
- 5-point Gaussian, 12,18,24,36 pointt Reuleaux triangles
- Cycling: observer selects number of dithers at each raster position; the dither steps are selected from a large table of random-normal spacings
The dither patterns were selected based on a figure of merit, calculated by Arendt, Fixsen, &Moseley.
