Purpose and Description

Bandmerge takes 2-7 ASCII catalogs as input and combines them into a single merged catalog, taking positional uncertainty into account in source matching. Bandmerge can be used directly on Spitzer and 2MASS tables (e.g. the output from APEX), but will only work on other catalogs if you change the headers to either Spitzer or 2MASS format.

Bandmerge produces three (required) output files. One contains the bandmerged data, another contains the spectral combination counts and a final one contains the statistics. The input parameters and filenames are specified either on the command line or in a namelist.

Downloading and Installing the Software

Bandmerge is currently being redeveloped by the SSC. A new version should be available in Spring 2008. After initial testing, we have determined that a GUI is not practical at this time. The software will be released with wrapper scripts similar to the command-line version of MOPEX.

In the meantime, the executables that make up Bandmerge are available. Please contact the Helpdesk (help@spitzer.caltech.edu) for access. The executables are currently intended only for expert users. Only very limited support from the SSC will be available until the new release.
