Spot (Tool for Planning Observations) and Leopard (Archive Tool) SoftwareSpot is a software package used by Spitzer observers to plan observations and submit proposals, and Leopard is a software package used to query the archive and download data. Together, this group of cats is referred to as the "Spitzer Pride."

Spitzer Pride Software
Remember to download the documentation Spot and Leopard as well as the software! If you find a bug, check the known bugs list for Spot or Leopard and if we don't already know about it, please submit a bug report. For Solaris Users- The Solaris auto-update may take some time because it is going to download and install the new Java version 1.5. If you cancel the installation before it is complete, you will have to install Spitzer Pride from scratch by downloading the S18 software. For Mac OS X Users - Spitzer Pride will only run under Tiger (OSX 10.4) or Leopard (OSX 10.5), since Java 1.5 is required. For All Users- If you decide to use a different Java Runtime Environment than is provided by our own installers, or are running on a platform other than our standard installations (this, e.g., applies to Linux 64-bit machines), then you should use this 'generic' installation: Spitzer-pride18_0_1-generic.sh. First, obtain (or locate) your own local Java 1.5.x installation. Then, click on the link here and save the program to disk. To make the program executable, type: chmod +x Spitzer-pride_18_0_1-generic.sh. Finally, to install it, type: ./Spitzer-pride_18_0_1-generic.sh. The installation script will ask you for the explicit path to your Java directory. Or, alternatively, you can run the programs thereafter by typing, e.g., for Spot: spot -jre <JRE_DIRECTORY>. For more information on this, see the Spot and Leopard documentation.
