This engineering version is compatible with 10.3 or 10.2.x but you MUST be sure to have the proper JAVA version. **For Mac OS 10.2.x users (if you wish to try this engineering version) be sure you have the most current JAVA for your OS. **For MAC OS 10.3 users, see the information below to ensure you have the proper JAVA installation. In this engineering version, we noticed that one command in the Proposal Tool causes SPOT to horribly crash. This command is "File->Prepend Cover Onto Sci Just File." We have disabled this option in the current engineering version. The option of prepending the coversheet info to your scientific justification PDF file is NOT required for proposal submission. This feature is entirely for users who may need to create an electronic version of a coversheet + proposal for institutional use. The real coversheet of the proposal is created and prepended to your final PDF file AT THE SSC after the deadline for the Call for Proposals has passed. We apologize that this feature is not working in this engineering version. If you encounter any other bugs in this version, please let us know by submitting a bug report to our Helpdesk (help@spitzer.caltech.edu). cheers, Spitzer Science Center Observer Support Team Here are the steps you should take if you would like to use this engineering version of SPOT for Mac: 1. To see if you have the latest JAVA version open a terminal window and type: * java -version * The output should be exactly (the .3 at the end of the second line is very important): java version "1.4.1_01" Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.1_01-99.3) Java HotSPOT(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.1_01-27, mixed mode) 2. If you do not have the latest JAVA version then download it at Page describing the download: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=120274 Actual download http://download.info.apple.com/Mac_OS_X/061-0966.20031218.54tr5/2Z/JavaPantherUpdate.dmg 3.
