CP-2 information The Call for Proposals for Cycle-2 will come out on November 1, with proposals due on Feb 12th at 1pm (13:00) California time. There are a LOT of new features that will be available in this CP; see http://ssc.spitzer.caltech.edu/propkit/new-go2.pdf for an overview. 2. Observation Planning Workshops Associated with the CP, we're planning several Observation Planning Workshops -- hopefully one will be near you soon! See this page: http://ssc.spitzer.caltech.edu/ost/workshops/ for a complete list. You can register now for 9 Jan (@ AAS, San Diego) and 12 Jan (@ ESTEC, Noordwijk, the Netherlands). More details for more US workshops to come very very soon. 3. How the Archive works Wondering how long it will take to get your data? First your AOR has to be scheduled; see "How scheduling works" at http://ssc.spitzer.caltech.edu/approvdprog/schedoverview.html Then, your data have to be archived; see "How the archive works" at http://ssc.spitzer.caltech.edu/archanaly/howarchive.html 4. How to request an appeal of Spitzer Rules decisions A new document has been posted here: http://ssc.spitzer.caltech.edu/documents/appeal.html 5. New contributed software page Have software you'd like to share with the Spitzer community? Want to see what others have contributed? This page: http://ssc.spitzer.caltech.edu/archanaly/contributed/ allows you to browse what others have contributed and submit your own software for distribution. 6. Cycle-1 abstracts posted All of the accepted program abstracts from Cycle-1 have now been posted. GO: http://ssc.spitzer.caltech.edu/geninfo/go/abs-go1/ AR: http://ssc.spitzer.caltech.edu/geninfo/ar/abs-ar1/ 7. 2MASS release The Two Micron All Sky Survey (2MASS) announces the availability of the full-fidelity 2MASS Atlas Images covering 99.998% of the sky. Until now, only the 2MASS Quicklook Images, renditions of the Atlas Images that were passed through a data compression algorithm that causes some loss of intensity information, have been available on-line. The Quicklook Images contain the full WCS information in their headers, but were not recommended for quantitative photometric measurements. The full-fidelity Atlas Images carry full WCS information in their headers as well as photometric zero points derived from the 2MASS calibration and are suitable for direct measurements. Interactive position/object-based access, batch mode retrieval and an inventory service for the Atlas Images are available via the 2MASS Image Services at the Infrared Science Archive (http://irsa.ipac.caltech.edu/applications/2MASS/IM/). A description of the 4,121,439 1"/pixel FITS-format Atlas Images, cautionary notes about their use and a gallery of known Anomalies in the Images can be found in the 2MASS All-Sky Data Release Explanatory Supplement (http://www.ipac.caltech.edu/2mass/releases/allsky/doc/explsup.html ). The Two Micron All Sky Survey is a joint project of the University of Massachusetts and the Infrared Processing and Analysis Center/California Institute of Technology, funded by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the National Science Foundation. Release of the 2MASS Atlas Images is funded by NASA as part of the 2MASS Extended Mission.
