From: Spitzer Science Center HelpDesk Subject: SIRTF: Cycle 2: Last Minute Information and interest group mailing lists Dear Spitzer Observers - T-8 days on your Spitzer GO2 proposals! (actual countdown clock here: http://ssc.spitzer.caltech.edu/propkit/countdownclock.html ) Best of luck on the final home stretch. Here is some additional information that might be of interest. 1. IRS AORs have been recently expanded to a 6 hr maximum. Previously, IRS AORs were limited to 3 hrs, but as of last week, 6 hr IRS AORs are allowed. The implications of this are minimal for most observation planning purposes -- you can consolidate (logical) pairs of 3hr AORs, but keep in mind that in general it is easier to schedule two 3-hr AORs than one big 6-hr AOR. 2. Ephemeris file for moving targets To obtain an accurate estimate of the observing time required for your moving target observation an ephemeris file for your target must be installed at the SSC. If you wish to include a moving target in your proposal and we do not have the ephemeris file already installed, you must send your request, listing the needed targets by NAIF ID, to the SSC Helpdesk (help@spitzer.caltech.edu) by today February 4 2005. The normal turn around time to have the ephemeris file online is three working days. Requests received after today will be supported on a best effort basis. You can still create AORs for a proposal though without an ephemeris, but features such as visibility calculations and overlays will not work. 3. Announcing instrument interest group mailing lists. Observer Support has created three mailing lists to allow members of the community to mentor each other, particularly on issues pertaining to data analysis. There is one list per instrument, and the lists are moderated. Inappropriate mail (e.g., spam) will not be relayed to the list. You can subscribe to receive messages as they are relayed, in digest mode, or interact with the lists entirely via the web-based interface if you prefer. You need not subscribe to the list to post a message or read the replies on the web. Go here to access the lists: http://ssc.spitzer.caltech.edu/archanaly/iglists.html cheers, Spitzer Observer Support
