Statistics on the Spitzer Cycle 3 Call for Proposals Statistics on the Spitzer Cycle 3 Call for Proposals are now available: http://ssc.spitzer.caltech.edu/documents/cp3-stats.pdf 2. Spitzer Visiting Graduate Student Program - deadline April 15, 2006 As in previous years, the SSC will be offering 4-5 Visiting Graduate Student Fellowships in the period July 2006-Jan 2007. Application instructions can be found on the web page http://spider.ipac.caltech.edu/staff/apple/VGSP.html or through the Spitzer webpage links. These are 6-month positions in which a student from outside Caltech can apply to work on a research project with a member of the SSC research staff. Students must be full-time graduate students (preferably in Ph. D. programs) at an accredited institution to apply. 3. Next version of Spot/Leopard for Mac - OS 10.4 or higher required Version 14 of Spitzer-Pride (Spot/Leopard) to be released in May 2006 will use Java 1.5. For Mac OS users this upgrade in Java will **require** the use of Mac OS 10.4 or later and the installation of Java 1.5. As is usually the case, older versions of Spot/Leopard will not be able to 'talk' to SSC servers once Version 14 has been deployed so all users who access SSC services through the Mac OS 10 version of Spot/Leopard will need to upgrade to OS 10.4 or later at that time. Java 1.5 for Mac is available at this URL: http://www.apple.com/java This is just an early warning for our Mac users that this upgrade will need to be done at that time.
