DIRECTIONS TO THE SSC FROM LAXThe Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is located on the coast of California, about 30 miles southwest (as the car drives) from Pasadena. The most direct route is to take Interstate 105 eastbound to Interstate 110 northbound and proceed on I-110 into Pasadena.
LAX is laid out like a giant horse-shoe, with the open ends pointing east. The open ends are the entrance and exits to the airport. If you rent a car, you will be leaving LAX from the car rental places, which are some distance away from this large airport. Also, if you are renting a car, there are free shuttle buses (GREEN tram stops) that will take you to the car rental areas. Car rental agencies have their own shuttle buses - just look for the big Hertz, Alamo, etc. names and colors on the buses. If you are renting a car, ask for directions to Interstate 105 or consult the map that is usually provided by the rental agency. In most cases, you will get on I-105 from Sepulveda Blvd which is just east of the airport. From Sepulveda Blvd be sure to take I-105 EAST. Continue on I-105 for about 7 miles to Interstate 110. Take I-110 NORTH. You will continue on I-110 north all the way into Pasadena, going right by downtown L.A. I-110 ends in Pasadena, becoming Arroyo Parkway. To go directly to the SSC, continue north on Arroyo Parkway to California Blvd. (approx. 0.5 miles from the end of I-110). Turn right (east) onto California Blvd. and proceed for a little over 1 mile to Wilson Avenue. The SSC is located on the 2nd through 4th floors of the Keith Spalding building on the Caltech campus (see map - building 6) on the southeast corner of Wilson Ave and California Blvd. There are administrative staff on the west side of the 2nd and 3rd floors. Parking: New parking regulations for the areas near the SSC were instituted in late 2005. There is long-term street parking near the SSC (avoid green or red curbs, or the ones explicitly posted as requiring parking permits, or residential areas), or you can park in our snazzy new parking garage located under the athletic field just south of the SSC. You must pay to park in the parking garage. Note that the access gates to the surface parking lot in Tournament Park (driveway immediately south of IPAC on Wilson Avenue) are generally locked after 6:30pm.
DIRECTIONS TO THE SSC FROM BURBANK AIRPORTTake Hollywood Way South to the Ventura Fwy (134). Go East on highway 134 towards Pasadena. Take the Lake Ave. exit and turn right (south) on Lake. Continue down Lake St. to California Blvd. and turn left (east). Continue on California Blvd for about 1/4 mile and you come to the intersection of Wilson Ave. and California Blvd. The SSC is located on the 2nd through 4th floors of the Keith Spalding building on the Caltech campus (see map - building 6) on the southeast corner of Wilson Ave and California Blvd. There are administrative staff on the west side of the 2nd and 3rd floors.Parking: New parking regulations for the areas near the SSC were instituted in late 2001. A map of the area denotes areas where long-term parking is permissible in non-reserved spots, where short-term parking is available, and where parking is forbidden or regulated by permits assigned to the neighboring schools and/or residential areas. Areas marked with a green color are available for unrestricted parking on a first come, first serve basis. Visitors should obtain a parking pass at the SSC. Note that the access gates to the surface parking lot in Tournament Park (driveway immediately south of IPAC on Wilson Avenue) are generally locked after dusk.
DIRECTIONS TO THE SSC FROM ONTARIO AIRPORTTake the San Bernardino Fwy (10) west to the Foothill Fwy (210); take the 210 west to Pasadena. Exit on Hill Ave; turn left (south) on Hill. Take Hill south to Del Mar Blvd.; turn right (west) onto Del Mar. Take Del Mar Blvd. to Wilson Ave. and turn left on Wilson (south).
